Pint of Origin

The Catfish

New Zealand

The Catfish gets lofty with the land of the long white cloud

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something brewed... The Catfish and Kiwi beer are taking their long-term relationship to the next level with All Tomorrow's Breweries.

For those with excellent memories, we hosted an event of the same name TEN YEARS AGO, featuring Kiwi beers never before seen this side of the Tasman. The principle is the same: we've done the legwork and will again be bringing you never-before-seen brews, plus some old favourites we haven't seen in a good long time!

If exclusive tasty treats aren't enough to secure your RSVP, we're throwing in a full week of events, including:

  • A special edition Have Beard Will Trivia with an NZ/Beer focus
  • Parrotdog Keg Party feat. Liberty Brewing Co!
  • Free Grass! (Free bluegrass session in the front bar)
  • Meet and greets, tap takeovers, bar shouts, beer specials and budget Bloody Marys
  • And of course our famous and much-loved Garage Project Garage Party!

Check out our events for all the details on a full week and more of Kiwi beers, brewers, and bites (from our mates at Sparrows Philly Cheesesteaks). More to come!

Meet the Maker: Sprig and Fern

We're kicking off this Pint of Origin with a visit from a true veteran of the NZ beer industry.

Tracy Banner has been making beer for over four decades and has been dubbed the 'Mother of NZ Brewing'. Her career began in England, with brewing giants Greenalls and Bass, and upon her move to New Zealand in 1994 she played a pivotal role in the craft beer revolution that has since swept the country, including being the first woman at the helm of iconic Dunedin brewery, Speight's. As of 2019 Tracy was awarded an Honorary Fellowship to the Brewers Guild of New Zealand, the Guild's highest honour. Today Tracy is the owner and master brewer of Sprig and Fern Brewing Co, an award-winning brewery in the Tasman district (South Island).

Tracy will be joining us fresh from judging the AIBAs, and we're hosting a mini tap takeover of Sprig and Fern beers in her honour - some never before seen in the country!
